Family Room Makeover-Week 4

Family Room Makeover – Week 4

Well we’re in the final stretch of the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda from Calling It Home where 200+ Designers/Bloggers have committed to transforming one room in there home in a mere 6 weeks.

I chose our Family Room because it’s obvious from the picture below (lol).

It was a very busy week at our house and we got alot done.  If you want to check where we’re at, you can look at week 1 here, week 2 here and week 3 here.  Now that you’re up to date, let’s take a look at this week’s progress.

Do you remember our ugly fireplace and the ugly “doo-dad”?

We were able to remove the doo-dad, fill the wholes, and sand.

Next job was to paint the dated brass insert.  I will do a complete post on how to do this.

Here’s how it looks with one coat of Zinsser on the matel and one or two coats of black high heat paint on the brass screen.  What a difference paint makes.

Here’s the before again.

And the after!

Since we had the zinsser out, we also did the far accent wall in the dining area that you can see from the family room.

Here is one coat of zinsser going on.   I will do a complete post on how to cover up faux paint or a chalkboard wall.  It’s the same process.  You can tell by the darkness at the patio door that it was a late night.

We’ve done all the big surface painting.  I’m not sure if I’m keeping that picture on the back wall there.  I’m thinking I will switch it out.

Now what is left is to sew pillows, paint side tables and sew or find curtains.

Be sure to check out the other featured Designers HERE, along with the other designers/bloggers (like me!) HERE.
