Media Room Makeover-Week 1

Media Room Makeover-Week 1

I’m SO excited to be part of the One Room Challenge again.  A huge thanks to Linda of Calling It Home for organizing this bi-annual design challenge.  This is my forth time taking on the challenge.  The first time I redesigned our entryway.  The second time was our master bedroom including adding on a master en-suite and the third time was our family room.

We moved into a newer home in the spring of  last year.  The very first room when you walk into the house we have designated as the Media Room a.k.a “the teen hangout”.  The former owner left his mark by painting only to where his media consul was, adding trim up to the consul, and a few other items that stick out like a sore thumb.  So it’s definitely time we made this room over.

So the goal is to be the coolest Media Room on the street.  We have our work cut out for us!!!

Here’s how the room currently looks:

The furniture, the chaise lounges and media consule will be staying.  The lounge chairs will get a big cleaning.  After all, the neighborhood boys have been eating on these couches for a year and its time.

So maybe the picture is not suitable for a teenage hangout but I love the ambience of the dark walls, love the lighting and the overall feel of the room.

The lighting from Ikea (see below) is a cool conversation piece that would be great for our Media Room.

The only area that I’m undecided which makes a huge impact in the room is the paint colors.

Paint Colors:  What do you think?

I’m currently debating between one of these three paint colors.

Top right: Benjamin Moore Sandlot Gray

Bottom:  Sherwin William Color of the Year 2017: Poised Taupe

Any recommendations?
